| Review: | A wonderful and balanced experience Extra Class is a wonderful place to study in St. Petersburg. Stanislav Chernyshov is a master teacher who constantly pioneers new ways to find the language's logic and make it accessible to students. His research is INVALUABLE as Russian is otherwise a very difficult language. The group teachers--Seva, Alla, Lena etc.--are also top-notch and the lessons are always laid back and humorous as well as edifying. Lots of experience speaking as well as reading, writing, and listening. The programs also offer a great taste of Russian culture in the form of field trips and Russian movies, songs, and literature. But by far the best aspect of the experience at Extra Class was the truly warm and personal environment--everyone from the teachers to the director to the administrators and office manager is eager to help with any and all aspects of life in Russia, and they are also TERRIFIC people. | Review: | Extra Class in Piter I really liked the atmosphere at the language school. In particular i found the mixture of speaking, listening, grammar brilliant, as well as the information about Russian history. Even if i carry coals to Newcastle, the lessons at Stas and Sewa were intensive. They were great but also greatly demanding. Everything was clearly explained so that we could practice straight away. Thanks also to both of the teachers for their patience! The tips and suggestions for books about St. Petersburg were simply wonderful. Luckily now I have all the Stas text books and cds at home. I think very fondly about these 2 weeks in March. I wish all the best to the staff at the school and I can only recommend Extra Class. Mir hat die Athmosphäre in der Sprachschule Extra Class sehr gut gefallen! Besonders schön fand ich die Mischung aus Sprechen, Zuhören, Grammatik sowie die Informationen aus der jüngeren und älteren russischen Geschichte. Auch wenn ich damit Eulen nach Athen trage, die Unterrichtsstunden bei Stas und Sewa waren intensiv. Schön und auch schön anstrengend. Vieles wurde anschaulich erklärt und konnte durch uns sofort geübt werden. Danke auch an dieser Stelle den beiden Lehrern für ihre Geduld! Die Buchtipps und die Anregungen zu St. Petersburg waren einfach toll. Zum Glück habe ich nun alle Lehrbücher und CDs von Stas bei mir zu Hause. Sehr gern denke ich an die 2 Wochen im März zurück. | Review: | Best Russian Language Program Ever!! I have participated in several Russian language programs before finally finding this fantastic language program (which offers individual as well as group courses). My instructor, Stanislav Chernyshov, is a phenomenal instructor of Russian language and really takes his job and student learning very seriously. It shows in my progress with the language--I went from intermediate level to an advanced Russian language level. Thanks to Stas' teaching I now have the Russian language abilities to conduct my dissertation research in Russia and in the Russian level. Unlike other programs that I have been in (which were more like fast-food chain language programs)--Extra Class offers intensive language classes with exprienced teachers in a comfortable, hospitable and personable environment. | Review: | Excellence in teaching Extra Class provided excellence in teaching and friendly helping with anything required. The classes were reasonable small, so I learned a lot in a short time. MUST HAVE I had some individual lessons that I suggest you as a "must have"!!! My teacher Stanislav Chernishov has a unique way of explaining things in easy and memorizable form. Better than any teacher I had before. About me: I'm a busineesman and did learn russian since 5 years. I started in the evening school in Germany. After this I studied it in my holidays at universities in Moscow and St. Petersburg 1 month each. In Moscow the university tought with the book "Poehali" from Stanislav Chernishov, so I then contacted him and did have a course at his school. Not only is his book excellent, but his methods are the best I experienced from all teachers I had. My recommendation after all the experience is EXTRACLASS. | Review: | Extra Class - Delivers its promise My husband and I studied for three weeks this summer at Extra Class. We approached it in two very different ways. I came as a language instructor msyelf, with a BA and partial MA in Russian. My husband came as a non-linguist & complete beginner wishing to learn some conversational skills. I was extremely impressed & satisfied with my course with Stas (the school director). I expected to be taught in the way which I've always experienced in Russia, namely the grammar-translation method. However, this was happily NOT the case at Extra Class! Stas taught by using interesting materials, debates, grammar when needed and *much* conversation. For my husband's part, as a true beginner his instructor Veronika naturally taught more grammar, but in an interesting & non-overwhelming way. He was also very satisfied with his course. Besides the classes, we also loved our homestay family, who treated us like family, even taking us to their dacha (summer home)one weekend. Their location was amazing too; we had a balcony on the 21st floor overlooking the Gulf of Finland! Finally, all of the other teachers & staff were friendly and went out of their way to make us comfortable. The school is moving to a bigger & better location in just weeks, and my husband and I can't wait to see it and study again next summer with the friends we made at Extra Class. Comments [ 0 ] |

| Review: | Best Russian Language School in St. Petersburg, Ru Without reserve, I offer that Stanislav Cherynshov is a Russian pedagogue of the highest degree. After living in St. Petersburg, Russia for some months and trying many different teachers, I was lucky enough to fin Extra class. After nine months of study with Mr. Chernyshov, I am now conversant in Russian and am able to write emails in Russian on my Rambler account. Further, I use Russian in my business dealings with my clients from the Mariinsky Theatre. The ability to communicate in Russian has proved a wind fall for my business; an untangled asset.
