| Review: | A Dissappointment YESI; the Yelapa English Spanish Institute, offers small classes taught by the owner in her home. It is a very low-key approach in a non-formal teaching setting. The owner of the school, Jean, knows her stuff. However, I was looking for something more formal and I found my experience at YESI to be lacking in that regard. Others may feel differently, as is their right. The setting, in the small fishing village of Yelapa, Mexico, is absolutely delightful. So delightful, that I went back for a weekend visit in May. Most of the villagers do not speak English, forcing you the student to use Spanish at all times. Jean set me up with a local family who have rooftop-guest suite they rent out for about $50 per night. I opted for the home cooked breakfast and Dinner add-on (about $15 extra per day) and really recommend that option. The cooking, the view and the lack of a TV set being the best features, the lack of a heater (I was there in January during a cold wave) being the only drawback to the living experience.
