| Review: | learning Spanish on the Galapagos Just got back from a wonderful holiday in Ecuador which included a weeks Spanish class on Santa Cruz (Galapagos). It was great! One-to-one teaching for 20 hours in the week meant that I learnt incredibly effectively. While other Spanish courses on the mainland are probably cheaper, being able to do it on the Galapagos combined with the effectiveness of the teaching meant great value for money. Included in the price was not only the excellent teaching but also a top quality hotel and a super programme for my free-time which included a complete days trip to another island and various other excursions - including swimming and snorkelling - which enabled me to thoroughly enjoy the Galapagos animal and bird world. I can unequivocally recommend it! Comments [ 0 ] |

| Review: | Spanish Language School in Quito, Ecuador We studied spanish for one week at the Instituto Superior de Español in Quito during April 2009 and were very impressed. The school was clean, organized and very efficient. Our teachers were very pleasant, always friendly and enthusiastic. The student : teacher ratio was very small (1:1 or 2:1) so the classes were pretty intense. This is certainly not the place to spend a few hours lazing about and perhaps pick up a few words of Spanish, nope, these folks really want you to LEARN! Because there was a statutory holiday during the week we were there we had to cram 5 morning lessings into only 4 days. That meant 5 hours of lessons with only one 20 minute break in the middle - not for the faint of heart! Tough but effective. And the staff went out of their way not only to make our learning experience as effective as possible but also to help with our other travel arrangements in any way that they could. They did everything from pick us up at the airport to organize taxis and hotels in other towns. The staff at the school certainly take their jobs very seriously and are keen to have the students advance as much as possible over their short stay. Overall our experience at the school was top-notch and we would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a spanish language school in Ecuador. We'd definitely like to return in the future, hopefully for 3 or 4 weeks of lessons instead of just one. If we do though we'll likely go to the school in Otavalo for at least part of the time. Quito is a big city and we're not big city folks so after a week we were quite glad to go elsewhere. We really enjoyed our subsequent visit to Otavalo and thought it would be a nice place to stay for a few weeks. Since the school also has a location in Otavalo it would be perfect! Comments [ 0 ] |
